Ernie's outdoor experience in high altitude mountaineering is significant, with over 25 years in the Colorado High Country, and beyond... he's summited hundreds of the highest peaks in the Rocky Mountains! Including 45 different 14,000' peaks in Colorado (Longs Peak 15 separate times using many different routes), the 13,770' Grand Teton Mountain in Wyoming, and the Devils Tower also in Wyoming. He's summited over 60 peaks 10,000' and higher in Rocky Mountain Park! Many of them using rope and traditional climbing equipment.
An avid technical rock climber as well, he's climbed in many areas of the state and scaled cliffs all over Colorado including Eldorado Canyon State Park, Boulder Canyon, the Flatirons and alpine routes in Rocky Mountain NP, for now over two and a half decades!
Competitive distance running brought Ernie to Colorado because Boulder was the Mecca!
Having completed 10 marathons, including the Boston Marathon 3 times and Marine Corp Marathon twice, he wished to compete at a higher level as a masters athlete.
Ernie joined the Boulder Road Runners club and spent 10 years as a member honing his running speed at varying distances at 5280'. He then met and was coached by Dave Scott (legendary triathlete, 6x Ironman World champ) who increased his fitness to a new level. He was then training with elite athletes including Mark Plaatjes (World marathon champ) and Shannon Butler (USATF 10k champ). Training and racing in Boulder broadened his interests, and opened doors to other recreational endeavors.
Alpine skiing became a fun winter activity (at Vail, Winter Park, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Eldora) in keeping with the Colorado outdoor spirit! And then Nordic skiing on trails in the backcountry became a passion for staying fit and having fun during the long winter season.
Personal training grew out of wanting to give back to those who could benefit from all his experience. And help improve the health and well being of others in the community.
All this made possible thru hard work and sacrifice through a lifetime of fitness!
~Health is Wealth~ ~Movement is Medicine~
Mountain and road cycling are my passions!
Summited 45 of Colorado 14,000' mountains (14ers), and have also summited over 60 named peaks 10,000' or higher in Rocky Mountain National Park, including 18 of top 20 highest peaks. I've summited Long's Peak 15x over the years using many different routes.
A traditional and sport climber in Eldorado Canyon, Boulder Canyon, The Flatirons, Lumpy Ridge (RMNP), Shelf and Rifle here in Colorado...and have led routes to top of Devils Tower, The Grand Teton and Vedauwoo in Wyoming. Have led hundreds of rock routes in Eldorado Canyon, Boulder, Garden of the Gods and Rocky Mountain National Park over the years.
Winter training/recreation takes place high in the Rocky Mountains, nordic and alpine skiing. Good times in the white powder of the Colorado high country!
Without the work in the gym, its impossible to Live the Dream!
